Don't forget the blessed relief of death, and the fear of getting beat up in gym class.
And if I were you, I'd study some cosmic horror ala H.P. Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith and Mike Minnis and write a story with that title in the same vein. It's too good to pass up.

I recommend Ambrose Bierce, F. Marion Crawford, Algernon Blackwood, Arthur Machen, and Robert W. Chambers. Of course Poe, Kipling, and Hawthorne are nothing to sneeze at, either.
And there's always my all time favorite author, Saki
i must look at some of those, i love how they are all posted on the Internet so i don't have to search/beg/borrow/steal/return an actual book:D
